San Francisco

In 2019, Chesa Boudin swept the race for San Francisco District Attorney after campaigning on a platform of reform and decarceration. Boudin's campaign promised an elimination of the cash bail system, effective prosecution of police misconduct and political corruption, and the implementation of policies that would reduce racial disparities within the system. Within the first few months of his tenure, Boudin has already begun to make good on these promises, proving his committment to staying accountable to the organizing community that helped elect him. In early 2020, Boudin instructed prosecutors in his offie to stop seeking cash bail and within 2 days of his tenure, Boudin fired 7 prosecuting attorneys in his office whos records were not aligned with his new reform-minded agenda.
